Wanda

By Barbara Loden

Synopsis

Wanda, a lonely housewife, drifts through mining country until she meets a petty thief who takes her in.

A film that remained cursed for a long time and yet had a considerable influence on a large number of filmmakers, through the uncompromising and raw portrait of a miners’ wife abandoning her husband and children for a life of neglect. A devastating blow to the conventions of American cinema.
