Five event films in Deauville

This year in Deauville, all of American cinema will be on display, because on top of the competition, independent films and documentaries, five event films will be screened. Tom McCarthy’s STILLWATER, a thriller infused with humanity shot in the streets of Marseille, will open the festival. Also to be discovered will be Paul Schrader’s THE CARD COUNTER, an intense film noir about redemption, Sean Penn’s FLAG DAY, a sincere ode to a father trying to patch things up with his daughter, Brad Furman’s CITY OF LIES, in which Johnny Depp plays the police detective investigating the murder of rapper The Notorious B.I.G. in the ‘90s. And a long-awaited surprise film will satisfy cinema lovers !

The 13 films playing in competition will be announced on August 9th.
