Carte Blanche to Philippe Garnier

To accom­pa­ny the release of “Génériques, la vraie his­toire des films” (“Cred­its, the true his­to­ry of movies”), an anthol­o­gy of writ­ings by Philippe Gar­nier on Amer­i­can cin­e­ma from the ear­ly 1940s to the end of 1977, the Deauville Amer­i­can Film Fes­ti­val, in asso­ci­a­tion with the Ciné­math­èque Française, a loy­al fes­ti­val part­ner, and pub­lish­er The Jok­ers Pub­lish­ing, offers a Carte Blanche to Philippe Gar­nier, pre­sent­ing six films emblem­at­ic of this alter­nate his­to­ry of Amer­i­can cinema :

SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS by Alexan­der Mackendrick

DAY OF THE OUTLAW by André De Toth

On Thurs­day, Sep­tem­ber 8th, after a pub­lic event in Deauville at Les Fran­cis­caines host­ed by Jean-François Rauger, direc­tor of pro­gram­ming at the Ciné­math­èque Française, Philippe Gar­nier will hold a sign­ing ses­sion for his work.

A cycle with 12 addi­tion­al films will play at the Ciné­math­èque Française from Sep­tem­ber 14th to 19th.
