About

Born in Mat­sumo­to in Japan, he joined Shi­rogu­mi Stu­dio in 1986 where he super­vised the dig­i­tal spe­cial effects on their films. In 2000, he direct­ed Juve­nile, his first live action film. He then made big bud­get films such a Space Bat­tle­ship Yam­a­to (2010), but also ani­mat­ed films such as Stand by Me Dorae­mon (2014).
