Born in Canada, he graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and co-founded Borderline Films in 2003. He wrote and directed Martha Marcy May Marlene, which screened as part of Un Certain Regard at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. The film premiered at Sundance where he won the Best Director Award. Among other films, he produced Antonio Campos’ Afterschool (2008), Alistair Banks Griffin’s Two Gates of Sleep, (2010), and Josh Mond’s James White (2015), all of them presented in competition at Deauville. In 2013, he directed all the episodes of British series Southcliffe. The Nest is his second feature film.
