ActressAbout
After her big-screen debut in Patrick Timsit’s Quasimodo d’El Paris, Mélanie Thierry made her mark in the theater with Amanda Sthers’ “Old Blonde Jew” in 2006. This exposure led to more ambitious projects. She played the Princess of Montpensier in Bertrand Tavernier’s film of the same name and won the 2010 Most Promising Actress César for her role in Philippe Godeau’s One for the Road. The actress went on to perform in such auteur films as Stéphane Cazes’ 2011 Ombline and Diane Kurys’ 2013 For a Woman, before extending her career into the United States with Terry Gilliam’s 2014 Zero Theorem and Fernando León de Aranoa’s 2016 A Perfect Day. Now established, she rejoined Albert Dupontel in 2017 for his film See You Up There, then played Marguerite Duras in Emmanuel Finkiel’s Memoir of War. In 2020, she appeared in Spike Lee’s war film Da 5 Bloods, the Larrieu Brothers’ musical comedy Tralala, Fabien Gorgeart’s drama The Family and the spy series No Man’s Land. She next played one of the patients in Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano’s hit series In Treatment, broadcast on Arte. Mélanie Thierry will next appear on the big screen in Thomas Bidegain’s Soudains, seuls, alongside Gilles Lellouche, as well as in Arnaud des Pallières’ Captives with Marina Foïs, Josiane Balasko and Carole Bouquet, presented this year at Deauville.
