Shane Atkinson

Born in North­ern Cal­i­for­nia, he received his M.F.A. in screen­writ­ing and direct­ing from Colum­bia Uni­ver­si­ty. His first work is described by his moth­er as “very fun­ny” and “why are there so many swear words?”. He wrote and direct­ed sev­er­al short films, like Pen­ny Dread­ful, which won the Audi­ence Award at the Cler­mont-Fer­rand Fes­ti­val in 2013, or The Ambas­sador, broad­cast on France 2 in 2020. The fea­ture-length film of his screen­play Poms, star­ring Diane Keaton and direct­ed by Zara Hayes, was released in 2019. LaRoy is his debut fea­ture film.
