About

Born in 1978 in South Africa, he stud­ied at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York and direct­ed tele­vi­sion doc­u­men­taries and com­mer­cials. In 2010, his minis­eries Hopeville won numer­ous awards. He also worked as a the­atre direc­tor and his stage play “The Epicene Butch­er” won the Ams­ter­dam Fringe Fes­ti­val Award for Best Inter­na­tion­al Pro­duc­tion in 2012. He released his fea­ture film debut The Wound in 2017, which was screened at the Sun­dance and Berlin fes­ti­vals, and short­list­ed for the Acad­e­my Award for Best Inter­na­tion­al Fea­ture Film in 2018. Man­odrome is his sec­ond fea­ture film.
