Elizabeth Mirzaei

She first taught pho­tog­ra­phy in Kaboul at the AINA Media Cen­ter found­ed by the renowned pho­tog­ra­ph­er Reza Deghati. Her first fea­ture-length doc­u­men­tary film, Laila at the Bridge, co-direct­ed with her hus­band Gulis­tan, screened and won awards at numer­ous fes­ti­vals. She co-found­ed with her hus­band Mirza­ei Films to be an indige­nous win­dow into mod­ern-day Afghanistan. Their first doc­u­men­tary short film, Three Songs for Benazir, had its world pre­miere at the Full Frame Doc­u­men­tary Film Fes­ti­val in 2021, where it won the Jury Award. Natalia is her sec­ond fea­ture documentary.
