Alexandre Aja wrote and co-directed with Grégory Levasseur the short film Over the Rainbow, presented in official competition at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival. Two years later, he directed his first feature film, Furia, presented at the Gérardmer Film Festival. He enjoyed national and international success with slasher Haute tension in 2003, then directed his first Hollywood film in 2005: the remake of Wes Craven’s horror film The Hills Have Eyes (1977). He continued his career in Hollywood and made Mirrors (2008), then Piranha 3D (2010) and Horns (2013) which he also produced. After The 9th Life of Louis Drax (2014), he coproduced with Sam Raimi and directed Crawl (2019). He also produced other films, including Franck Khalfoun’s P2 (2007) and Maniac (2012), Grégory Levasseur’s The Pyramid (2014) and Johannes Roberts’ The Other Side of the Door (2016). He directed in 2021 Oxygen for Netflix, starring Mélanie Laurent, and is currently working on his next feature, Never Let Go, starring Halle Berry.
