The Jury

With Arnaud Desplechin as Jury President, we celebrate our love of American cinema, and of cinema in general. And a jury that guarantees the excellence of a future winner…

Joining him in handing out the awards will be a group of remarkable personalities, beginning with another great cinephile, Jean-Paul Civeyrac, a subtle, superb, one-of-a-kind philosopher-poet of cinema.
Then, a great theater actress who turns every film she’s in into an event, crowned with the 2019 César for Best Actress, none other than Léa Drucker.
In just a few years he’s become one of the most sought-after actors in French cinema, in auteur films as well as commercial movies, from comedies and thrillers to dramas, a full actor whose career demonstrates cinematic intelligence, Pierre Deladonchamps.
Yasmina Khadra, the great Algerian novelist whose books have been published in nearly 60 countries, are followed by millions of faithful readers and have been adapted for both stage and screen, will bring his peerless eye for storytelling.
With Sophie Letourneur, we have an artist-director, an observer of mores with a burlesque sense of humor, who loves nothing more than to create and experiment, to sculpt reality with almost documentary-like precision.
Each of his appearances is a step forward. Each performance, on stage or screen, demonstrates an unparalleled talent as an author and actor, as well as unfailing originality : Alex Lutz and his offbeat spirit will be on the case.
And finally, Marine Vacth, a dangerously beautiful actress, has inspired the most prestigious directors in France, from Cédric Klapisch to François Ozon by way of Jean-Paul Rappeneau and Maïwenn, as well as such international filmmakers as Matteo Garrone and Giordano Gederlini.

Eight characters in search of a filmmaker, for a clearly exceptional 48th Deauville Film Festival !
