Claire Denis

Born in Paris, she stud­ied at the IDHEC cin­e­ma school and began her film career work­ing as assis­tant to major direc­tors like Wim Wen­ders, Cos­ta Gavras and Jacques Riv­ette. Her fea­ture debut Choco­lat pre­miered in com­pe­ti­tion at the Cannes Film Fes­ti­val in 1988. Her next films were almost all pre­sent­ed on the Croisette, includ­ing Stars at Noon which won the Grand Prize this year.
