About

Born in Texas and raised in Vir­ginia, he earned a bach­e­lor’s degree from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Vir­ginia and an M.F.A. in Film from Colum­bia Uni­ver­si­ty. He start­ed out by mak­ing short films, such as Lady­bug (2012) and Love in Four Parts (2013). He also direct­ed, with Miguel ‘M.i.G.’ Mar­tinez, Farewell Fer­ris Wheel (2016), a doc­u­men­tary explor­ing how the US Car­ni­val indus­try employs Mex­i­can migrant work­ers, that was nom­i­nat­ed for an Out­stand­ing Busi­ness and Eco­nom­ic News & Doc­u­men­tary Emmy Award. His short film Stay Awake won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2015 Slam­dance Film Fes­ti­val. Stay Awake, an adap­ta­tion of his short, is his fea­ture debut.
