Kirk Dou­glas, Kubrick, Cannes, Pierre Les­cure, Deauville, an intense first Sat­ur­day at the Amer­i­can Film Fes­ti­val, rich in Cin­e­ma anthol­o­gy references..

As for the doc­u­men­taries, Hubert Attal, along­side his pro­duc­ers, set the ball rolling with Kirk Douglas’s « The Untamed » fol­lowed by the doc­u­men­tary « Kubrick by Kubrick » pre­sent­ed by Gre­go­ry Mon­roe, thus mak­ing a trib­ute to two embe­mat­ic fig­ures of Amer­i­can Cinema.

Direc­tors Pierre Les­cure, Maxime Switek and Philippe Lezin pre­sent­ed their film in front of enthu­si­as­tic cin­e­ma lovers, in the com­pa­ny of Pierre Les­cure, Pres­i­dent of the Cannes Film Festival.

The Series of Uncle Sam doc­u­men­taries includ­ed the show­ing of ‘Deauville and the Amer­i­can Dream’, pre­sent­ed by its Direc­tor Daph­né Bawir.

Con­cern­ing the Com­pe­ti­tion, the direc­tor of the film The Assis­tant by Kit­ty Green and the direc­tor of Sound of Met­al, Dar­ius Marder, who were unfor­tu­nate­ly unable to attend Deauville this year, pre­sent­ed their fea­ture length film which can be seen on the Fes­ti­val social networks.

As for the film pre­mieres ( and those spine chill­ing films) two show­ings from the offi­cial Cannes Film Fes­ti­val selec­tion 2020, Ted­dy by Ludovic and Zoran Boukher­ma and Pen­nin­su­la by Yen Sang- Ho were warm­ly wel­comed in a packed house at the CID in Deauville.
