We wished to open this year’s festival with Minari, a film playing in competition, to affirm the latter as a priority. Further, this work, with its fordian touches, affirms our desire for a rigorous popular cinema. It is this same desire that led us to choose How I Became a Super Hero as our closing night film, a French film that pays tribute (a veritable French X‑MEN) to those marvellian heroes but also the fantastic vein of American cinema. These two films share a common thread of delighting us.
