About

“Nowadays, everyone can be a director, or a photographer, but telling a story takes much more knowledge and competence.”

With a 25-year career, eight albums, multiple collaborations (with Ibrahim Maalouf, Damon Albarn, ‑M-, Booba…), and two Victoires de la musique, Oxmo Puccino is a musician with a passion for words and a regard for other people’s lives, preoccupations and dreams. He’s also a multifaceted artist, composer, author, actor and even director. In 1999, he wrote the music for Jacques Doillon’s film Little Brothers, his first brush with cinema. In 2014, he directed his first short film Anti-Thirty. The following year, he lent his voice to the animated film Adama and, in 2018, to the animated film Smallfoot as the Stonekeeper. At the invitation of Thomas N’Gijol, he contributed to the original soundtrack for the film The Legend of Black Snake. He is one of the only French urban musical artists to break the codes of hip-hop by building bridges between very different styles. On his most recent album “Night of Awakening,” the new guard of French rap (Orelsan, Caballero & Jeanjass, even Gaël Faye) lent him a bold helping hand.
