After studying literature, Léa Mysius graduated from the screenwriting department at La Fémis in 2014. She directed three short films which were selected and awarded by numerous film festivals: Exquisite Corpse, Thunderbirds, selected by Cinéfondation, and The Yellow Island, co-directed with Paul Guilhaume. In 2017, she directed her first feature film, Ava, a teenage drama led by the young actress Noée Abita alongside Laure Calamy. The film was selected for that year’s Cannes Critics’ Week and won the SACD Prize. Léa Mysius went on to pursue her screenwriting career and co-wrote with several big names in French cinema, such as Arnaud Desplechin (Ismael’s Ghosts, Oh Mercy!), André Téchiné (Farewell to the Night), Jacques Audiard (Paris, 13th District) and Claire Denis (Stars at Noon, winner of the 2022 Cannes Film Festival Grand Prize). In 2022, she returned to the director’s chair, directing Adèle Exarchopoulos in The Five Devils, a follow-up feature mingling intimate drama and fantasy, selected by Directors’ Fortnight.
