After her big-screen debut in Patrick Timsit’s Qua­si­mo­do d’El Paris, Mélanie Thier­ry made her mark in the the­ater with Aman­da Sthers’ “Old Blonde Jew” in 2006. This expo­sure led to more ambi­tious projects. She played the Princess of Mont­pen­si­er in Bertrand Tavernier’s film of the same name and won the 2010 Most Promis­ing Actress César for her role in Philippe Godeau’s One for the Road. The actress went on to per­form in such auteur films as Stéphane Cazes’ 2011 Ombline and Diane Kurys’ 2013 For a Woman, before extend­ing her career into the Unit­ed States with Ter­ry Gilliam’s 2014 Zero The­o­rem and Fer­nan­do León de Aranoa’s 2016 A Per­fect Day. Now estab­lished, she rejoined Albert Dupon­tel in 2017 for his film See You Up There, then played Mar­guerite Duras in Emmanuel Finkiel’s Mem­oir of War. In 2020, she appeared in Spike Lee’s war film Da 5 Bloods, the Lar­rieu Broth­ers’ musi­cal com­e­dy Tralala, Fabi­en Gorgeart’s dra­ma The Fam­i­ly and the spy series No Man’s Land. She next played one of the patients in Olivi­er Nakache and Éric Toledano’s hit series In Treat­ment, broad­cast on Arte. Mélanie Thier­ry will next appear on the big screen in Thomas Bidegain’s Soudains, seuls, along­side Gilles Lel­louche, as well as in Arnaud des Pal­lières’ Cap­tives with Mari­na Foïs, Josiane Bal­asko and Car­ole Bou­quet, pre­sent­ed this year at Deauville.
