About

Alexan­dre Aja wrote and co-direct­ed with Gré­go­ry Lev­asseur the short film Over the Rain­bow, pre­sent­ed in offi­cial com­pe­ti­tion at the 1997 Cannes Film Fes­ti­val. Two years lat­er, he direct­ed his first fea­ture film, Furia, pre­sent­ed at the Gérard­mer Film Fes­ti­val. He enjoyed nation­al and inter­na­tion­al suc­cess with slash­er Haute ten­sion in 2003, then direct­ed his first Hol­ly­wood film in 2005: the remake of Wes Craven’s hor­ror film The Hills Have Eyes (1977). He con­tin­ued his career in Hol­ly­wood and made Mir­rors (2008), then Piran­ha 3D (2010) and Horns (2013) which he also pro­duced. After The 9th Life of Louis Drax (2014), he copro­duced with Sam Rai­mi and direct­ed Crawl (2019). He also pro­duced oth­er films, includ­ing Franck Khalfoun’s P2 (2007) and Mani­ac (2012), Gré­go­ry Levasseur’s The Pyra­mid (2014) and Johannes Roberts’ The Oth­er Side of the Door (2016). He direct­ed in 2021 Oxy­gen for Net­flix, star­ring Mélanie Lau­rent, and is cur­rent­ly work­ing on his next fea­ture, Nev­er Let Go, star­ring Halle Berry.
