To accompany the release of “Génériques, la vraie histoire des films” (“Credits, the true history of movies”), an anthology of writings by Philippe Garnier on American cinema from the early 1940s to the end of 1977, the Deauville American Film Festival, in association with the Cinémathèque Française, a loyal festival partner, and publisher The Jokers Publishing, offers a Carte Blanche to Philippe Garnier, presenting six films emblematic of this alternate history of American cinema :
SECRET BEYOND THE DOOR by Fritz Lang
THE NAKED CITY by Jules Dassin
SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS by Alexander Mackendrick
DAY OF THE OUTLAW by André De Toth
MAN IN THE WILDERNESS by Richard C. Sarafian
CHARLEY VARRICK by Don Siegel
On Thursday, September 8th, after a public event in Deauville at Les Franciscaines hosted by Jean-François Rauger, director of programming at the Cinémathèque Française, Philippe Garnier will hold a signing session for his work.
A cycle with 12 additional films will play at the Cinémathèque Française from September 14th to 19th.
