Thandiwe Newton, Deauville Talent Award

A renowned actress known for block­busters, series, the­ater and art­house films, Thandi­we New­ton is also a ded­i­cat­ed pro­duc­er, activist and philanthropist. 

She won an Emmy Award for her per­for­mance in the series West­world in 2018, and has worked under the direc­tion of such pres­ti­gious film­mak­ers as Ron Howard (Solo: A Star Wars Sto­ry), Xavier Dolan (The Death & Life of John F. Dono­van), Roland Emmerich (2012), Guy Ritchie (Rock­Rol­la), Oliv­er Stone (W.), Gabriele Muc­ci­no (The Pur­suit of Hap­py­ness), Paul Hag­gis (Crash, Grand Prize at Deauville in 2005), Jonathan Demme (The Truth About Char­lie), John Woo (Mis­sion: Impos­si­ble II) and James Ivory (Jef­fer­son in Paris)… 

Thandi­we New­ton is a per­son­al­i­ty who enrich­es the indus­try with her pas­sion and tal­ent. As such, she will receive a Deauville Tal­ent Award this year pay­ing trib­ute to an excep­tion­al career and a woman of great character. 

On this occa­sion, she will present the French pre­miere screen­ing of GOD’S COUNTRY direct­ed by Julian Higgins.
